From Tritium capsule supplier to sights manufacturer
As one of only two global tritium capsule Original Equipment Manufacturer, we decided to launch an own class/ brand of night sights, including a new technology which we believe will push the usability of traditional sights beyond all previously presumed limits.
Why Vanguard Sights
Having researched on night sight technology for decades, we wanted to create the ultimate high visible compact metal sight for all light conditions. Tritium capsule (GTLS, Gaseous Tritium Light Sources) sights are good in low light conditions, but they lack in day-or twilight, when standard sights getting difficult to read but tritium is not yet bright enough. Therefore, a coloured ring is often painted around the capsule.
A technological break through
New technologies and severe testing finally led to the breakthrough,- the PLP (Permanent Light Point) twilight capsule. Something never seen before in terms of efficiency amongst classic night sights. Gone are the times fiddling around with brittle, non-temperature resistant fibres. Non homogenous light distribution or insufficient contrast.
A simple sight that doesn’t change appearance or colour during light changes. Just pure power in compact and ridged high tech dots.
No more ring to dot changes, just one distinct form which can be memorized and where you keep training your reflexes and eye on.

TECHNOLOGY
Especially our patented PLP (Permanent Light Point) sights combine the most advanced technologies available in this field today.
- Swiss Made high pressure tritium capsules (worldwide unique), long lasting (10 years plus), with an activity of 1GBq/capsule.
- Swiss Made Next generation after glow pigments (usually used in top high end Swiss watches)
- A special Swiss Made ultra reflective paint, manufactured for special applications like ours.
PLP combines these three technologies to provide best possible visibility under all light conditions (see explanation below).

A special paint a) is reflecting the sun (or artificial) light. The brighter the surrounding light collected by the special glass domed PLP capsule n), the
brighter the sights distinct dot appears. The pure reflection does not store energy, so it is fading out around dawn, with the sun still above the horizon.
At that point technology b) starts to perform with an overlap.
The strontium aluminate-based pigments b) collect sunlight and especially also
UV light, which peaks at dawn with the sun still above the horizon.
As it (compared to technology a)), stores the energy provided by the sunlight, the
pigments provide continuous visibility from civil to astronomical sunset, where the sun just disappeared, to it being 18 degrees below horizon (lasts app. 30min).
The strong illumination provided for several minutes, allow the shooters eye to adjust to night conditions.
Once darkness sets in, technology b) fades out, the tritium light source c) with a stored long-term energy takes over the job of illumination. Its technology lasts for years. At dawn, or with artificial light present, the cycle starts again.
This way, the PLP provides the best possible ultra compact all light visibility available on the market today. Providing perfect low light condition combat abilities to every handgun, free of any battery or external energy needs.
Even if you chose an optical sight as your main gun sight, the Vanguard Sights PLP provides you with a perfect backup, not a partial substitute, but a fully functional combat sight.

The physics behind tritium activity and brightness
The pre-loaded tritium in the glass capsules, determines the energy resources of the sealed tritium capsule. Pure tritium, as used on the manufacturing process, provides a certain energy per mass (volume), the activity concentration. Through a special filling process (patent applied), Vanguard Sights capsules contain an effective 30% higher loading pressure (more energy).
This leads to an additional brighter light output due to more energy density (not an enhancement due to reflective coatings, as often adverted and state of the art).
The higher energy content also extends the sights life by app. three years.
Our classic tritium sights
Even our classic sapphire capsuled night sights contain the same super bright tritium source that enhances product life by three years.
With a good cost/ usability ratio, they still offer an easy and reliable/ cost effective way to enhance your handguns night fight capabilities.
Compared to other brands on the market, we don’t use UV glue to protect the tritium capsule.
Our capsules are precision made, aluminium/ sapphire crystal only.
